There's an RFP out for a new VoIP project. The IT department met with vendors last week.

There are two water-meter related projects. (1) Cleaning up raw meter data, in order to provide the water department with better metrics. (2) Integrating meter readings with the billing system and town Treasurer's office.

The town is trying to standardize on camera systems for the school and town buildings.

Hardy school A/V project. The department is trying to determine which projector models integrate well with chromebooks and iPads. It's no fun to get a projector and find that your classroom computing devices can't talk to it. This is part of the strategic plan: investing in projectors for school classrooms that don't have them.

The town has taken over maintenance of the high school website. The department continues to build an inventory of town-related social media accounts and web sites. These web sites are often run by groups like school PTOs.

There are two more departments to train on the new helpdesk system. Once that's finished, all town departments will submit tickets through a single helpdesk system. The new system has a knowledgebase feature, which is coming in handy for common issues.

Munis tools for employee self-service are being presented, and favorably received.

The town recently launched it's own web-based tool for property search. This replaces property search via Patriot Properties.

The town would is giving consideration to the ITIL framework (ITIL stands for "Information Technology Infrastructure Library"). It's a framework for delivering IT services. It's got a lot of focus on project and change management.
